Shallan Davar begins as a desperate young Veden noblewoman who talks her way into becoming Jasnah Kholin's ward, secretly plotting to steal her Soulcaster to save the debt-ridden House Davar. Torn between deception and a genuine love of scholarship, she survives Kabsal's poisoning plot and grows conflicted about betraying her mentor. By Rhythm of War she has become a Lightweaver Knight Radiant bonded to the Cryptic Pattern, Adolin Kholin's wife, and a spymaster leading her own agents, while her fractured mind divides among the personas Veil, Radiant, and the emerging Formless. Entangled with Mraize and the Ghostbloods, she must confront both external manipulation and the buried truths of her past.
Description
A young, pale-skinned woman with long auburn-red hair, light blue eyes, and faint freckles across her cheeks and nose. She wears a traditional, sleek blue silk Vorin havah with a long flowing skirt and keeps her left safehand covered beneath its sleeve. A human woman; in the earliest supported appearance, a sack covers her head. Later clothing varies, including dresses, a havah, a pleated vakama, and practical trousers with jackets, but the text does not establish her underlying facial features, complexion, or build.
