Sigzil is a Makabaki former apprentice of Hoid, a trained Worldsinger who ends up enslaved as a bridgeman in Bridge Four, where his measured speech and scholarly bent set him apart from the men around him. Initially wary of Kaladin's authority and guarded about his past, he becomes one of the crew's thoughtful voices, lending his knowledge of cultures and weapons to Kaladin's plans. By Rhythm of War he has risen among the Windrunners to become a companylord who handles the company's daily administration, a role he accepts with visible discomfort. He remains a cautious, steady presence who counsels patience in Dalinar's service and survives a near-fatal duel with the Fused Leshwi.
Description
Sigzil is short and slight, with deep brown skin and thick black hair that falls around his shoulders. His face is clean-shaven, and his dark eyes often turn downward, giving his quiet expression a guarded, thoughtful quality. He wears the simple, practical clothing of a bridgeman, including knee-length trousers, and may be bare-backed beneath the open sky. His formal bearing and smooth, deliberate speech lend him a composed presence despite his plain surroundings. Sigzil is a young-adult Alethi man with a capable, military bearing; his precise height, build, facial features, hair, and eye color are not specified. His most recognizable clothing is a brilliant blue Alethi Windrunner uniform, worn with a neatness that marks his place among the soldiers. He appears thoughtful and attentive, carrying himself with competence rather than swagger, though the new formality of command can leave him looking ill at ease.
