A young officer of the UNN ship Prince, Williams proves himself a practical and generous ally, helping Holden’s people with the work of identifying ships. After losing his left arm and leg below the middle joint, he meets his changed circumstances with a brisk, unembarrassed candor rather than self-pity. He remains a valued presence among the people trying to understand and survive the crisis.

Description

Williams is a very tall young Earther, broad through the shoulders and trim at the waist, with short blond hair and an athletic frame. His face is youthful and composed, and his neatly kept appearance is sharpened by a crisp, sharply pressed UNN officer’s uniform. His left arm and left leg end at the middle joint, plainly visible when he sits or gestures. He carries himself with the steady, practical ease of someone accustomed to being useful.
