Torol Sadeas is a cunning, ruddy-faced Alethi highprince clad in ornate red Shardplate, an old friend of Gavilar and Dalinar Kholin who masks ruthless ambition behind easy familiarity. In The Way of Kings he runs the brutal bridge-crew system that grinds down Kaladin and Rock, cultivates influence over King Elhokar, and ultimately betrays Dalinar at the Tower by withdrawing his army and bridges to leave the Kholin forces to die. Though he is killed by Adolin between books, his legacy endures in Rhythm of War: his betrayal remains a wound in Dalinar's memory, and his widow Ialai carries his enmity toward the Kholins forward.
Description
A human man with a bulbous face, ruddy complexion, and thick black hair curling around his shoulders. He is imposing in red Shardplate, often painted and ornate; his helmet may have a decorative sunburst design. In formal settings he wears a long red velvet robe over a ruffled white shirt, or a scarf with metallic golden embroidery. The book’s supplied descriptions establish Sadeas as a male highprince but provide no reliable details about his height, build, skin, hair, eyes, or facial features. His clothing and distinguishing marks are likewise unspecified. The visual impression available is chiefly one of high rank and formidable authority, without enough detail to define his appearance more precisely.
