Cedric Diggory first appears as the handsome, sportsmanlike Hufflepuff Quidditch captain and Seeker who catches the Snitch to defeat Gryffindor, even offering a rematch after learning Harry fell from his broom amid a Dementor attack. A year later he is chosen as the rightful Hogwarts champion of the Triwizard Tournament, only to share the spotlight with Harry, whose entry he initially doubts. Over the course of the tasks, rivalry gives way to mutual respect: the two trade crucial tips, and in the maze they agree to claim the Cup together. The Cup is a Portkey to Voldemort's graveyard, where Cedric is murdered as 'the spare.' His death marks the dark turning point of the series, and Harry honors his last wish by returning his body to his parents.
Description
Tall and good-looking with a strong, athletic build larger than his peers. Face handsome and composed, exuding silent confidence. Canary yellow Quidditch robes fit his robust frame perfectly. Presence steady and capable, like a natural leader on the pitch. An exceptionally handsome human boy around seventeen, with dark hair, gray eyes, and a straight nose. His usual clothing is not established; he is seen in Hogwarts robes, dress robes, and swimming trunks on different occasions. In the underwater scene, an enormous bubble surrounds his head and distorts his features; after the dragon task, one side of his face is covered with orange burn-mending paste.
