Kissandra Vorcien-Montego

Capric is Kizzie’s half brother. His involvement in Adriana’s murder horrifies her, and she cannot imagine looking him in the eye again, though she conceals the military evidence from their father.

Kizzie is Father Vorcien’s bastard daughter. Their relationship is shaped by his power over her place in the guild-family and her desire for his approval; he calls her simply “daughter” after she brings him evidence and agrees to continue the investigation.

Sibrial is Kizzie’s oldest half brother and the Vorcien heir. Their relationship is hostile after Kizzie truthfully testified against him when he injured a child with his carriage; he later attacks her with his cane.

Kizzie and Demir are close friends. She investigates his mother’s murder and tries to help him, but her actions indirectly contribute to his confrontation with Capric. Father Vorcien later proposes that they marry, though Demir finds the prospect personally complicated.

Adriana secretly supported Torlani’s bakery and sent enforcers to protect it; Kizzie investigates Adriana’s murder on Demir’s behalf.

Madame-under-Magna directs Kizzie to ask Torlani the Breadman for information about Adriana’s murder; no direct relationship between Kizzie and Aristanes is established here.

Kizzie and Montego have not spoken in fifteen years and remain estranged after a painful personal history. The possibility of seeing him again helps persuade her to take Demir’s job.

Diaguni serves the Vorcien household and advises Kizzie to preserve Demir’s trust while continuing her investigation. He also comforts her and helps her after the Tall Man’s attack.

They have been friends for a long time. Gorian shares investigative information with Kizzie, and she trusts him to keep her confidences, though he trades the Glass Knife list for her story about Montego.

Volos diagnoses Kizzie’s severe resonance poisoning, promises she will recover, and carries her away with Montego to help them.

Veterixi has served the Vorcien family since before Kizzie’s birth and treats her candidly, warning her about Sibrial and advising her about Glissandi.

Kizzie sees an impossibly tall, bald man watching after Glissandi’s death. He neither intervenes nor explains himself, but his presence unnerves her and appears connected to the murder’s aftermath.

Kizzie investigates Agrippo as a possible Glass Knife suspect and searches his body after finding him murdered. His bloodstained letters provide a clue in her inquiry into Adriana’s death.

Kizzie questions the Breadman and persuades him to disclose that he recognized Churian Dorlani fleeing Adriana’s murder.

Kissandra believes Aelia is involved in Adriana’s murder and the violence against the Grappo. She seeks Montego’s help because she cannot safely confront Aelia alone.

Kizzie interrogates Churian under shackleglass about Adriana’s murder. After learning his role, she threatens him into leaving Ossa and keeping silent.

Kizzie seeks answers about Adriana’s murder. Glissandi attempts to bribe and threaten her, then uses bodyguards against her; Kizzie forces a confession, after which Glissandi kills herself rather than reveal the person who gave the orders.
