Ogun is the grumpy god of blacksmiths, armor, and protection, a muscular, hammer-wielding deity with eyes of white light whose favor carries a terrible price. In The Eye of the Bedlam Bride, his worshippers Paz and Anton turn to him for protection from Sister Ines's control, but when Carl strips Anton from his protection with Black Nimbus, Ogun crushes Anton in a flash of lightning, brands Paz's face with a burning handprint, and revokes his grace so that Paz is left to die. Sparing Carl only out of respect for Emberus, and shedding blood in his sister Yemaya's temple in the process, Ogun leaves behind a divine scandal and a lingering memory, recalled in This Inevitable Ruin as the god from whom Carl failed to save Anton.
Description
Ogun is human-sized, dark-skinned, and powerfully built, with a broad, muscular frame. His eyes are nothing but white light, an uncanny feature set against his otherwise imposing form. He wears a leather apron over his bare chest, shorts, and a necklace made of sharp white teeth, while carrying a giant war hammer over one shoulder. A yellow glow and a gruff, formidable presence distinguish him. The text identifies Ogun as a god but provides no visual description. No information is given about form, stature, coloring, face, eyes, attire, or distinguishing features.
