Brightlord Meridas Amaram first appears as the immaculate, honorable-seeming lighteyed general whom young Kaladin idolizes, until he murders Kaladin's surviving squad, steals the Shards Kaladin won, and brands him a slave to bury the truth. That betrayal becomes the wound driving Kaladin's thirst for revenge throughout the early series. By Rhythm of War Amaram is dead, and he is remembered as a leader of the Sons of Honor, recruited by Gavilar Kholin with promises of restoring ancient powers, as Sadeas's rival, and as a man whose stolen Shards and deserting army outlived him. His name endures mostly as a moral warning about what happens when power is used to coerce and conceal.

Description

A tall, lean man with a strong figure, square face, clean-shaven face, and light tan eyes. He wears a neatly pressed green formal military uniform and a sword at his hip. Amaram is described as an Alethi man with a military bearing, suggesting a disciplined, commanding posture. The text supplied here gives no reliable details about his height, build, complexion, hair, eyes, or facial features. As a brightlord and military leader, he is associated with high-ranking attire, but no particular garments or distinguishing marks are specified.
