VenDell is one of the ancient kandra, a prim, bespectacled immortal whose great age comes with an appetite for deference and a fastidious, fact-checking manner. First mentioned by MeLaan as an elder who lectured her on human matters and cautioned her against attachment to mortals, he steps fully into the story as Harmony's emissary to Waxillium Ladrian and his allies. In the Set crisis he advises on harmonium, trellium, Hemalurgy and Investiture, wears the body of Granks to impersonate the Cycle during a sting with Wayne, and relays Harmony's unsettling worry and fear. Bound by the First Contract and often teased by the crew, he becomes a genuine member of their circle, ultimately choosing to stay behind to care for Marsh and the wounded.

Description

VenDell manifests as a prim, fastidiously groomed man wearing a neatly tailored brown suit. He has stark blond hair perfectly styled and wears wire-framed spectacles. His entire bearing projects an intellectual, precise demeanor that suggests he fact-checks jokes and statements alike. VenDell is an ancient kandra, said to be more than six hundred years old. No particular height, build, coloring, face, hair, eyes, or clothing is specified. The only clear impression is of a venerable figure who enjoys being treated with admiration. VenDell presents himself as a prim, carefully arranged man in a brown suit, with stark blond hair styled so precisely it seems never out of place. Wire-frame spectacles sharpen his composed, exacting expression. His skin is usually humanlike, but can turn pale and translucent, exposing the strange construction beneath: cracked bone and sinew-stitched structure. His neat attire and measured bearing make the glimpses of that uncanny interior all the more striking.
