Moonlight is a Ghostblood agent from offworld whose exotic features and red forearm tattoo mark her as a stranger to Scadrial. She enters the story disguised as the researcher Kim on Waxillium Ladrian's team, under orders to keep her identity hidden from him because of his ties to Harmony. She then becomes Marasi Colms's guarded but increasingly trusted partner against the Set and Autonomy. She tests Marasi's judgment, opens a Ghostblood safehouse to her, and comes to defer to Marasi's leadership. Over the course of their mission, Moonlight shifts from secretive operative to genuine ally in the fight to protect Scadrial.
