Garrick Ollivander, the eccentric and silvery-eyed wandmaker of Diagon Alley, first appears as the man who fits eleven-year-old Harry with the holly and phoenix feather wand whose core is twinned with Voldemort's, an eerie connection he remembers with unsettling clarity. He returns in Goblet of Fire as the expert summoned to the Weighing of the Wands, where his delighted, almost reverent inspection of each champion's wand confirms him as the wizarding world's foremost authority on wandlore. His knowledge of brother wands quietly shapes later events, from the graveyard duel's Priori Incantatem to the wider struggle in which his expertise makes him a target sought by Voldemort himself.
Description
Mr. Ollivander is an elderly thin man with wide pale silvery eyes that shine like full moons, piercing and luminous. His long white fingers, slender and spider-like, move with delicate precision. Silvery hair frames his sharp face, and he wears dusty formal robes in his cluttered shop, exuding an eerie, otherworldly presence. Ollivander is an elderly wizard distinguished by large, pale eyes that give his otherwise quiet expression an unusually intent quality. His build, hair, skin tone, and precise clothing are not described. He carries himself with stillness and concentration, seeming wholly absorbed whenever a wand is in his hands.
