Ren is a Mongolian crawler and squad leader whose story culminates in the Capitol battle against Quan Ch, where she fights with totems and a flamethrower alongside her village friends Chuluuna and Khulan. After watching Chuluuna die to the Mongolian Death Worm and seeing Quan's card tactics shatter her squad, Ren entrusts Carl with her equipment, cards, and her beloved pet Garret, resetting the creature so he can survive in Carl's care before she sacrifices herself. Her deathbed confession to Princess Donut, admitting she cheated at the pet show, earned her the affectionate nickname "Cheater," and her legacy lingers in later books through the cards she left Carl and the Tummy Acher he keeps in her memory.
