Khulan is a Mongolian crawler and longtime friend of Ren, hailing from the same village and fighting alongside her as a member of Ren's squad, where her paralysis ability sets up targets for Ren's flamethrower. In The Eye of the Bedlam Bride, her husband is killed, and Khulan collapses over his body in raw, overwhelming grief, a loss so devastating that Ren refuses to force her onward. By This Inevitable Ruin, Khulan herself has died, and her legacy survives in the spellbooks passed to Carl, a quiet contribution that outlasts her.
Description
Khulan is a tiny Mongolian woman with weathered skin, its texture and coloring suggestive of years spent working outdoors. Though young, she has an aged appearance, with a worn face that seems to hold more seasons than her years. Her small frame and practical, unadorned presence make her seem shaped by a demanding life close to the elements. No physical details are provided for Khulan. The text does not specify their age, build, coloring, hair, eyes, clothing, or distinguishing features.
