The Shattered Plains are a vast expanse of plateaus split by deep chasms on the eastern edge of Alethkar, where the Alethi highprinces wage a years-long war of vengeance against the Parshendi following King Gavilar's assassination. In The Way of Kings, the Plains are a brutal proving ground of gemheart races, bridge runs, and political rivalry, where Kaladin rises from Bridge Four slave to Radiant and Dalinar survives Sadeas's betrayal at the Tower. By Rhythm of War, the war camps have been largely abandoned after the Everstorm and the Alethi relocation to Urithiru, and the Plains linger as a scarred reminder of a conflict built on misunderstanding, with the ancient city of Stormseat (Narak) at their heart tied to the Oathgates.
