Amaram's Battlefield refers to the hillside skirmish grounds in Alethkar where Kaladin served as a spearman in Highprince Amaram's army, a place that shaped his skills, his reputation, and ultimately his betrayal. First glimpsed through Kaladin's flashbacks in The Way of Kings, where he protects his squad and earns his first taste of hard-won leadership, the battlefield returns in Rhythm of War as a vivid memory and vision: stumpweight trees, leather-armored men in Amaram's colors, and ragged squads of half-trained recruits with outdated gear. Its resurfacing in the later book ties Kaladin's present struggles with trauma and leadership back to the formative violence of his youth.
