Highprince Ruthar is a brawny, clipped-bearded Alethi lighteyes known for his showy, gaudy attire. In The Way of Kings he is little more than a face among the warcamp nobility, but by Rhythm of War he has become an open thorn in Dalinar Kholin's coalition, blaming Dalinar for the loss of Alethkar and challenging his leadership. His belligerence culminates in a duel with Queen Jasnah Kholin, who cuts his throat and nearly executes him as a calculated political statement, leaving him alive only through Renarin's Truthwatcher healing and subject to watch in Azimir.
Description
Ruthar has brawny arms and a short black beard that surrounds his mouth. He wears a red silk coat cut short like a sleeved vest, over a ruffled white shirt, with loose blue trousers whose cuffs fall wide. The contrast of bright silk and sturdy build gives him a bold, unmistakable presence. A brawny, bearded human man. In chapter 56 he wears a gaudy yellow outfit with a beautiful doublet; after a throat wound, blood is visible on his neck and clothing.
