Gare is first mentioned as an incompetent man from whom Kaladin bought Cenn away. Later, he appears as a heavyset soldier marked by a missing section of scalp, carrying an axe and wearing white knots on his shoulders. The text does not give a fuller account of his life or eventual fate.
Description
Gare is heavyset, with dark eyes, beefy forearms, and a thick black beard. A large section of scalp is missing from the right side of his head, making his appearance distinctive. He wears white knots on his shoulders and carries an axe strapped to his back, giving him a broad, battle-ready presence.
