Dabbid begins as one of the most broken members of Bridge Four, a battle-shocked bridgeman with a broken arm who stares ahead silently and is nursed back by Kaladin, finding small purpose carrying water alongside Lopen. By Rhythm of War, he has remained with Bridge Four as a hopeful squire, still silent and often overlooked, until the occupation of Urithiru forces him into heroism. He helps hide and protect the unconscious Kaladin, guides Navani to the tower's garnet veins so she can reach the Sibling, and is revealed to be capable of speech, having chosen silence out of shame over his differences. Embraced by Rlain, Teft, and Lift, and briefly clad in windspren-formed Shardplate, Dabbid emerges as proof that a quiet man still has much to give.
Description
Dabbid is a young male bridgeman, though the text gives no exact age, height, or build. His most striking visible feature is a broken arm held at an awkward angle; his eyes are described as dazed and unfocused, and his lips sometimes move without producing sound. His hair, complexion, and other facial features are not specified. He wears the plain, practical clothes of a bridgeman, with a stunned, withdrawn presence that sets him apart from the bustle around him. Dabbid is a wiry young Alethi man with notably pale skin and an unsettled, wild-eyed gaze. A Bridge Four tattoo sits on his forehead, a stark mark against his face; his expressions and movements suggest someone intensely alert to the people and sounds around him. He wears practical, unadorned clothing suited to work, carrying himself with a guarded stillness. In his rare display of ShardPlate, the armor has the distinctive, temporary quality of windspren taking shape around him.
