Vanna, first glimpsed only as a mutilated corpse in Iron Gold, is resurrected in Dark Age as the freckle-faced "Freckles," a Gamma-born survivor whose arc transforms her from a nameless victim into a gritty, defiant participant in the brutal rites of Heliopolis. Across the two books, her presence shifts from a haunting symbol of Society cruelty to a living embodiment of endurance, moving from silent burial to active resistance—arming herself, facing execution, and ultimately cradling the fallen Lion in tears. Her evolution underscores the saga’s theme that the voiceless dead can return as the living conscience of the oppressed.
Description
The text describes Vanna only as having tattered flesh and her hands cut off. It gives no details of her height, build, complexion, hair, eyes, face, or clothing, so those features remain unknown. A freckle-faced girl in her early twenties with a slender build and tangled, wild hair that frames her shifting expressions—from dazed uncertainty to a fierce defiant glower. Her simple dress bears a prominent dark blood stain on the right side, paired with practical, worn attire suited to labor and survival. She wields a tarnished pistol and vibroKnife, often staggering under the immense weight of an oversized Gold breastplate or clutching mops, her presence raw and unyielding. Fair skin scattered with freckles highlights her intense, weathered features, exuding a gritty resilience in every stance.
