The Cargo Hold first appears in The Shattering Peace as a secure, high-security compartment aboard a CDF vessel, housing two transparent prism enclosures that contain living Consu specimens under Obin guard. Its debut underscores the escalating diplomatic and military tensions between the Colonial Defense Forces, the Obin, and the enigmatic Consu, transforming what might have been a simple storage space into a nexus of interspecies conflict. The audible arguments emanating from within the enclosures hint at deeper philosophical or strategic debates among the Consu, suggesting the hold’s role may expand beyond mere containment in future installments.
