Felisin Paran, the youngest child of the noble House Paran, is only a name in Gardens of the Moon, a sheltered daughter of Unta whose brother Ganoes has gone to war on Genabackis. In Deadhouse Gates her fate turns brutal: her elder sister Tavore, newly made Adjunct, sacrifices her to the Empress's purge of the nobility, condemning her to the otataral mines of Skullcup. There she trades her body to the overseer Beneth for protection, sinks into bitterness and durhang, and escapes with the thief-priest Heboric and the enigmatic thug Baudin. Scarred in body and spirit and consumed by hatred for Tavore, she ends the book reborn as Sha'ik, the Seeress of the Whirlwind rebellion, setting the stage for a tragic confrontation between the two sisters.
Description
A young woman with sun-honeyed skin and a plump build, wearing a thin slave tunic that clings to her round full breasts. Her face bears pocks and scars around the eyes from bloodfly bites, giving her a hardened look beyond her years, with long dark hair often tangled or pushed back.
