Municipio Sur, or South Borough, emerges in the second volume of Lord of Mysteries as the bustling southern district of the capital city Backlund. While initially presented simply as another urban district, its significance grows as it becomes a focal point for the series' expanding narrative of political intrigue, supernatural occurrences, and social upheaval. The district's evolution mirrors the broader transformation of Backlund itself, transitioning from a mere geographical designation to a crucible where the series' central conflicts unfold.
