Lewis of Bavaria, also known as Ludwig, was a German emperor who revived the example of Otho by accepting election as senator by the Roman people. He was crowned by Sciarra Colonna and encircled the Colonna pillar with a royal crown, symbolizing the complex relationship between imperial authority and Roman municipal traditions. He stood as one of two pretenders to the imperial throne summoned by Rienzi.

Description

A middle-aged German emperor of broad-shouldered imperial build, with dark hair beneath an ornate crown. His stern features include a prominent nose and deep-set eyes that convey both authority and calculation. He wears elaborate ceremonial robes with fur trim and gold embroidery befitting his dual role as emperor and senator. His presence commands attention whether in imperial court or Roman senate chamber.
