Remus Lupin enters Harry's life as the shabby, exhausted, but deeply capable Defense Against the Dark Arts professor of Harry's third year, quickly becoming one of the most respected teachers Hogwarts has seen and a mentor who teaches Harry the Patronus Charm. Beneath his kindness lies a secret: he is a werewolf and a member of the Marauders alongside James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew, a past that resurfaces dramatically when Sirius's innocence and Pettigrew's betrayal come to light. Though his condition forces his resignation and returns him to a life of prejudice and poverty, his loyalty endures, and when Voldemort returns he is among the first old allies Sirius knows must be summoned to the fight.
Description
A quite young-looking man with light brown hair flecked with gray, a tired gray face, and gray hairs visible among his hair. His shabby wizard’s robes are patched, frayed, and darned in several places; he sometimes wears a cloak. He can look ill and exhausted, with dark shadows beneath his eyes, or paler than usual. Lupin has a lean, worn look, with a thoughtful face marked by fatigue and light brown hair that shows signs of graying. His pale eyes and subdued expression lend him a gentle, watchful presence. He favors practical, muted wizarding clothes that appear shabby and well-used rather than grand. His overall appearance is modest and quietly kind.
