Beatrice's mother, the mother of Carl's ex-girlfriend Beatrice and a figure from Princess Donut's pampered show-cat past, never appears in the dungeon in person. In The Eye of the Bedlam Bride she returns as one of the nine heads of the Reminiscence Hydra, her face-lifted cheeks and gold cross necklace grafted onto a fireball-spewing monster that threatens to cage Donut and use her as a breeder for the cattery. In This Inevitable Ruin she shrinks to a single sharp memory: she once accused Carl of attempted murder for microwaving a sausage sandwich near her husband's pacemaker.
