Clare Beddor is a young human woman from Feyre's village whose name Feyre offers as a false identity when questioned during the Calanmai Fire Night, a lie that dooms her. Captured by Amarantha, Clare is tortured and killed, her broken corpse nailed to a wall Under the Mountain as both punishment for Feyre and a warning to all who defy the queen. Though she never appears alive, her fate haunts Feyre into A Court of Mist and Fury, where the memory of her mutilated, spiked body resurfaces as an emblem of the guilt and trauma Feyre carries from her time Under the Mountain.
Description
The body shows severe burns across the skin with blackened, damaged areas. Her fingers are bent at odd, unnatural angles from violence inflicted upon her. Red lines have been carved deliberately across her naked form in patterns that suggest ritualistic torture. The corpse shows advanced decay with a rotting, desiccated appearance. Her posture is twisted and broken from being nailed to the cavern wall in a display of cruelty. A human woman with a broken body and welts, dead and naked, spiked to a wall.
