Megasthenes is identified as an ancient Greek ambassador and writer on India, invoked among the earlier authorities who shaped knowledge of distant regions. The text offers no account of his personal journey or later fate; his lasting presence here is that of a remembered observer whose writings outlived him.
Description
No physical description of Megasthenes is supplied. His age, build, complexion, hair, eyes, facial features, garments, and any distinguishing marks remain unknown; a faithful depiction should avoid treating conventional images of ancient Greeks as textual fact.
