Immegiljin is described as a Tartar tutelary deity of sheep and cattle represented by a pair of figures. Their curious forms are made from flat, lanky bolsters covered in fleece, with leather knobs marking their features; one bears a rope at the girdle, and the other is accompanied by smaller figures. The account offers no further story or personal relationships for the deity.
Description
Immegiljin is represented by two lanky, flat bolster-shaped figures, their upper ends formed into round disk-like heads. Long, woolly fleece hangs over their bodies, while leather knobs mark eyes, noses, breasts, and navels. A rope is tied at the male figure’s girdle, and the female figure is shown with smaller companions. They have the rough, handmade presence of devotional objects fashioned from fleece and leather.
