Hoernle appears as a scholarly authority in the book’s notes, where his examination of the British Collection of Central Asian Antiquities helps frame the manuscript evidence. His contribution is one of careful study rather than a narrated personal journey; the text offers no further account of his life or relationships.
Description
The text identifies Hoernle as a scholar but gives no description of his appearance. His height, build, skin tone, hair, eyes, facial features, clothing, and distinguishing marks are unspecified, so none can be stated reliably. His presence is conveyed only through his association with the close study of ancient manuscripts.
