Eorl, called the Young, founded the House of Eorl and became the ancestor whose name the Rohirrim carry into battle. He rode from the North and brought an ancient horn from the hoard of Scatha the Worm; on the Field of Celebrant, his voice rang above the fighting. Long afterward, Théoden and the Riders still invoke the Sons of Eorl as an inheritance of courage and duty.
