The fabrial clock begins in The Way of Kings as a curiosity of Alethi artifabrian craft: a small mechanical timepiece with a single dial and a glowing smokestone heart that only ticks when infused with Stormlight. By Rhythm of War, the concept has been reimagined through deeper fabrial science, where a gemstone housing a captured logicspren leaks Light at a controlled rate, pulsing bright and dim in regular intervals to mark time. Its evolution mirrors Roshar's broader technological leap, from Stormlight-powered novelty to precise instruments built on an understanding of spren behavior and Light dynamics.
