The Sunmaker is a legendary conqueror from Roshar's past who never appears in person but casts a long shadow over the series. In The Way of Kings he is invoked as a historical touchstone, remembered chiefly for launching his campaign of conquest at the age of seventeen, a benchmark of youthful ambition. By Rhythm of War his memory survives in more tangible form, tied to an antique sword style that keeps his name alive in martial tradition. Across the books he stays a figure of legacy rather than personality, preserved in reputation and craft instead of portrait or personal history.
