Tanavast is the ancient Vessel of Honor, a figure whose name surfaces only fleetingly in The Way of Kings before his true significance comes into focus. By Rhythm of War he is understood as the long-dead god who once held the Shard of Honor, his power splintered and gone, yet his essence lingers within the Stormfather. Though Tanavast himself is utterly dead, his legacy echoes through Roshar, most pointedly in Dalinar Kholin's invocation as "son of Tanavast," a title binding the Bondsmith to the vanished deity.
Description
The text does not describe Tanavast’s appearance. Build, coloring, hair, eyes, clothing, and distinguishing features are all unspecified. No physical details are given for Tanavast. The text identifies him as an ancient figure and former holder of Honor, but does not describe his height, build, skin, hair, eyes, face, or clothing. His visual design should therefore remain open, without assigning a specific age or appearance.
