Highprince Aladar is one of the Alethi highprinces whose political weight makes him a coveted ally in the War of Reckoning on the Shattered Plains. In The Way of Kings he rebuffs Dalinar Kholin's overtures for alliance, standing apart as one of the independent-minded lords whose loyalties Dalinar must watch carefully. By Rhythm of War he remains a peripheral figure, glimpsed through the affairs of his princedom: a homely note about his axehounds bearing puppies, and his more serious duty overseeing a withdrawal in Alethkar as the war grinds on.
