The Pot begins as a distant, ominous metal-dome fortress looming over the Lykos mining colony in Red Rising, serving as both a surveillance post and a prison for Reds. By Golden Son, it has transformed into the primary subterranean habitat for the entire Red population, a 300-meter-deep, humid, and oppressive prison-like structure that encapsulates the brutal reality of Red life under the Society's rule. Across the series, The Pot evolves from a symbol of distant authority to the literal foundation of Red existence, representing both the crushing weight of oppression and the potential for rebellion from within.
