Sungrave emerges in the later volumes of the Red Rising Saga as a pivotal fortress-city on Mercury, evolving from a distant strategic objective into the crucible where the fate of the Solar Republic is decided. Initially referenced as a looming threat in Iron Gold, it becomes the epicenter of Darrow’s desperate campaign in Light Bringer, transforming from an impregnable citadel into a symbol of both tyranny and resistance. Its fall marks a turning point in the war, reshaping alliances and exposing the moral cost of victory.
