The Ascomanni Obsidians begin as feral, cannibalistic raiders who survived the Society's culling, appearing in Iron Gold as pale, scarred warriors with animal pelts and ritualistic chants. By Dark Age, they evolve into terrifying polyextremophilic space raiders with fused metal skull crowns, demonstrating remarkable resistance to vacuum, radiation, and bullets while preferring brutal melee combat. In Light Bringer, their origins are revealed as genetically modified raiders from Kuiper Belt asteroid nests, bred through enslaved Carver programs, transforming them from mysterious threats into a calculated product of the Society's darkest experiments.
