Volga is introduced in Dark Age as a towering, bear-like Obsidian mercenary whose immense physical presence and fierce loyalty to Ephraim ti Horn define her early role. By Light Bringer, she has undergone a striking transformation, appearing as a short, aged woman whose dragonscale cape and heavy step reflect both physical change and emotional weight. Across the series, Volga evolves from a physically imposing, loyal soldier into a more introspective figure marked by pain, doubt, and deepening bonds with others, particularly Lyria of Lagalos.
Description
A very tall, large, powerfully built woman with frazzled white hair, muscular corded arms and legs, and pale calves covered in thin white hair. Her eyes are described as hollow in memory. She wears a jumpsuit in captivity; later clothing is tattered and bloody, and she is sometimes armed with a rifle. During captivity she becomes markedly thinner and appears drawn and tired, with an arm in a makeshift sling. A young woman described as bright and clever, with a love of animals; no further physical features are established.
