Thistle emerges from the shadows of the Howler pack in Red Rising as a minor but memorable figure—her sly grin and wolfcloak marking her as one of Sevro’s wild crew—before blossoming in Golden Son into a pint-sized, razor-wielding terror whose fierce loyalty and sharp tongue make her indispensable to Darrow’s inner circle. Across the two books she transitions from a background scalper of foes to an unarmored but unbowed frontline fighter, her evolution mirroring the Howlers’ own shift from ragtag rebels to disciplined shock troops of the rising. Her guarded demeanor and quick banter remain constant, anchoring her as the pack’s irreverent heartbeat even when stripped of armor and status.

Description

A lithe 16-year-old girl with an athletic build honed for combat, her sharp features lit by a sly, predatory grin. Tousled shoulder-length hair frames her face, and she wears form-fitting Howler armor adorned with scalps dangling from her waist belt. Her thigh bears the mark of casual camaraderie, and fragments of a shattered shield hint at recent fury, exuding a presence that's equal parts playful and feral. A human young woman with a dark complexion and a calm, guarded expression. She wears a heavy Howler wolfcloak, the open fanged maw of its wolf design framing her face, with the cloak falling around her shoulders. Her hair, eyes, and build are not distinctly described, so keep those details understated rather than prominent. Very small, hardly reaching a tall man's solar plexus, Thistle has a fierce wiry build packed with explosive energy. Short wild dark hair frames her sharp, snarling face and evil-eyed glare. Whether unarmored or in light Howler gear, she grips her razor with snapping aggressive posture, her diminutive presence crackling with untamed defiance. Thistle is notably short, coming only to about Ragnar’s solar plexus, with a compact presence that makes her fierce manner all the more striking. In the field she wears black armor and a wolf pelt; after rough fighting she is seen with a muddy face and stripped-down gear. She also appears in estate-appropriate clothing among friends. Her hair, eyes, and coloring are not specified.
