June, the pretty young cook at the Institute, first passes with milk cups before preparing suppers for House Mars, her role background until she's stunned unconscious by a stunpike and carried off. Later fetched from prison to cook a feast from goats, sheep, and herbs, she embodies the lowborn Golds serving the students' brutal games. Her brief arc highlights the casual cruelty inflicted on even the minor players in the Society's hierarchy.
Description
Pretty 16-year-old girl with delicate youthful features and soft expressive face. Slender build suited for kitchen work, long hair practically tied back. She wears a simple apron over rough servant clothes stained with flour and herbs, carrying trays with diligent grace, her presence warm and unassuming. The text identifies June as a cook but gives no reliable details about her face, coloring, hair, age, or build. Her clothing can only be described generally as practical attire suited to preparing food; specific garments and colors are not stated. No distinctive features or accessories are recorded.
