The Unity Colony Hospital Complex emerges in the final volume of the Old Man's War saga as a utilitarian medical facility on the frontier colony world of Unity, designed to serve both human colonists and Conclave species. Its architecture reflects the uneasy peace between former enemies, with segregated wings for different species and supporting infrastructure that underscores the colony's role as a proving ground for interspecies coexistence. Though it appears only in The Shattering Peace, the hospital embodies the series' thematic evolution from interstellar warfare to fragile diplomacy, serving as both a literal and symbolic nexus where the consequences of past conflicts receive treatment.
