Mateu Jordi appears as Earth's diplomatic representative in the later stages of the Old Man's War series, serving as a key voice of objection during critical Unity Colony briefings. His presence marks a shift toward more formalized diplomatic engagement between Earth and the Colonial Union as the series explores post-war political restructuring. While his role is primarily procedural, Jordi's objections highlight growing tensions between Earth's desire for autonomy and the Colonial Union's traditional military-first approach to interstellar affairs.
