Wartownik Starszy appears only in the opening volume of Mons Viridis Magicus, where his brief, violent death serves as the series’ first demonstration of the lethal stakes surrounding the Antykwariat Pod Salamandrą. Introduced as a grizzled, scar-marked veteran whose grim determination masks an expendable role, he is felled by gunfire in the midst of a shadowy confrontation, his bloody collapse underscoring the fragility of even seasoned guardians within the magical underworld. Though he never reappears, his sudden demise reverberates through later books as a cautionary archetype for the countless nameless sentries who guard—or perish at—the threshold of power.
Description
Around fifty, his average build is solid from years of service, with a brutal face softened only slightly by a graying beard that reaches his chest. A jagged scar cuts across his temple, pulling one eyebrow into a perpetual scowl over deep-set eyes. His hair is thinning and gray at the sides, skin rough and weathered. He dons a dark wool coat with brass buttons, loose trousers, and heavy boots, a black powder gun gripped firmly.
