The dueling cane is one of the most enduring melee weapons of Scadrial, evolving alongside the world itself. In the era of the Final Empire's collapse it appears as a slender, six-foot wooden staff capped with metal, a favored weapon of pewter-burning Thugs and the staff-fighting style of skirmishes in Luthadel. Three centuries later, in the industrializing Elendel Basin, the cane has shortened into a thick wooden baton or fighting cane with a knobbed end, carried by constables as a non-lethal tool and wielded with flair by Wax's partner Wayne. Its persistence reflects how older martial traditions survive even as firearms come to dominate.
