Concept

A hidden cavernous power spoken of in the Lord Ruler's logbook as the end of an ancient pilgrimage. It is more myth and destination than a visited stage in this story.

The Well of Ascension begins as a whispered legend in the Lord Ruler’s logbook, an elusive destination at the end of an ancient pilgrimage. In the second book it becomes the central stage for the desperate struggle to protect the city of Luthadel and the fate of the world, transforming from myth into a tangible, contested site of power. By the third book, the Well is revealed as a vast underground cavern complex housing a radiant pool of Preservation’s power, its stockpiles and glowing waters now the final key to the Hero of Ages’ destiny.
