Nouxil is a gunsmith whose distinctive workmanship is recognized in an aluminum gun, though he had disappeared about a year earlier. When he is found, he is short, balding, and cowering in a corner with a shotgun, his terror unmistakable. The contrast between his skill as a maker and his frightened helplessness gives his brief part in the story a memorable tension.
Description
Nouxil is a short, balding man whose frightened expression dominates his appearance. He tends to make himself small, shoulders drawn in and posture cowering, with a shotgun held close in his hands. His clothing and coloring are not described, nor are his eyes or other facial features. The strongest impression he leaves is one of visible fear and vulnerability.
