Lord Peterus is introduced as the retired chief of the Eighth constabulary, an aging lawman in an old-cut suit whose long tails and thick graying beard mark him as a figure from another era. He is shot by the Vanisher boss, but later accounts complicate the image of a wronged officer: Peterus had been an impostor, pretending to seek justice. Miles also shoots him, and his death is eventually confirmed, though not at Edwarn Ladrian’s hands. His brief presence leaves behind the unsettling impression of authority used as a disguise.

Description

Lord Peterus is an aging man with a thick, graying beard and the worn, settled features of someone long accustomed to public responsibility. He wears a formal suit of an older cut, its coat tails extending almost to his ankles, with a shoulder holster beneath the jacket. The antique lines of his clothing give him a notably old-fashioned silhouette. His presence is stern and weathered, more imposing through habit than physical force.
