Sergeant Mincer serves as a sapper in the Malazan forces, having been demoted from captain to sergeant. Despite his unfortunate appearance, he proves himself a capable soldier who carries the remnants of better days in his scavenged armor. His role involves the dangerous work of siege engineering and combat support.

Description

A squat, hairless man whose face could be called immeasurably ugly, with eyes reduced to thin slashes and a nose flattened into a spread of angles and crooks. He wears fragments of armor scavenged from a commander of the Apocalypse, with a helm tied to his belt and a battered shield remnant hanging beside it. His large blackened crossbow is covered with camouflage twigs and branches.
