The Treasurer begins as a sneering, diffident noble whose painted eyebrows and court fashion mark him as an outsider among sailors. His arrogance crumbles when he is struck unconscious and thrown overboard, sacks of coin weighting his descent into the depths.
Description
A tall, stooped man of middle years with a hatchet face and gaunt cheeks powdered light blue in court fashion. He wears oversized Napan sea gear and a sealskin hood, his long-fingered, pallid hands emerging from heavy swaths of Napan raincloak. His face shows not a drop of sweat despite the heat, strangely pale beneath the hood, his painted eyebrows adding to his diffident, aristocratic air.
