Gas Pipes first appear in Volume 2 as the mundane infrastructure of a wealthy villa, their white-gray conduits feeding elegant gas lamps that illuminate the Sin Rostro arc. Across the series they evolve from mere background décor into a recurring motif of industrial mysticism: their steady hiss becomes the audible heartbeat of the steam-powered world, and their pressurized flow is later revealed to be a subtle conduit for Beyonder powers. By later volumes the pipes are no longer passive; they channel both literal gas and metaphorical “information,” turning every city street into a potential ritual circle.
